Every week the Jackson Hole Daily looks at the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce’s lodging barometer of bookings for the week ahead, which the chamber compiles on Wednesday afternoon and posts online Thursday morning. Comparisons are made according to percent change, rather than the difference in percentage points.
Advance bookings for hotels around the valley are down across the board over last year and also last week.
Overall occupancy in Jackson Hole for Saturday is projected to be 38 percent, a 16 percent decrease from 45 percent during the same weekend last year. Last week’s occupancy also was 45 percent.
Downtown Jackson bookings decreased the least, coming in at 39 percent. Last year’s downtown bookings were 42 percent.
Teton Village and vacation rental bookings dipped a bit more, but the Village still will have higher occupancy this weekend.
Village bookings dipped 25 percent over last year, with 44 percent projected occupancy for Saturday compared with last year’s 59 percent.
Vacation rentals are at 46 percent occupancy, down 10 percent from last year’s 51 percent.
Bookings in outlying areas of Jackson also are down, with Saturday’s numbers at 23 percent. This weekend last year saw 28 percent occupancy in outlying Jackson lodgings.
