A Wilson lawyer has gone to court to get his partner’s wife out of the affairs of the business.

Robert Williams, of Jackson firm Meyer and Williams, alleged in the lawsuit he filed Wednesday that the wife, Miracles Meyer, performed duties that rightly belonged to her husband, Richard Meyer, and improperly billed the firm for personal expenses.

Williams asked 9th District Judge Timothy Day to order Miracles Meyer to provide a complete account of her activities with the firm and the bills she sent as a result. Williams, who is representing himself, also asked Day to order Meyers to pay the cost of the lawsuit and award “all other relief as is just and proper.”

According to Williams’ complaint, Miracles Meyer has billed the law partnership for work that was her husband’s responsibility as the firm’s treasurer. Williams claims the situation began in February 2007 though Miracles Meyer “has never [been] an employee or agent” of the firm.

The incidents he asks the Meyers to account for include altering American Express bills, purchasing a BMW in their name and billing the firm for several stays in Las Vegas.

“Every improper billing to [Meyer and Williams] by Defendant for which she was compensated has the potential to damage Plaintiff,” the complaint reads.

According to the complaint, Williams and Richard Meyer each own 50 percent of the firm.

The Meyers have yet to respond to the lawsuit.
