A week-long Solstice party of cultural and arts events, celebrating the natural world of our valley, Japanese-style! With the high-powered rhythm of Japanese drumming, film screenings, family events, food and drink, a festival market and performances, our celebration culminates in the Japanese fire ceremony – a dazzling street fair lit by the blaze of torches.

Mix’d Media: Inside Out
Presented by the National Museum of Wildlife Art in collaboration with the Public Arts Initiative and Friends of Pathways

The Museum’s programs move from the inside to outdoors to celebrate the first sculpture installation for the new Sculpture Trail. Enjoy an early summer evening of music and art, ride your bike and help launch the Festival’s mikoshi for the spirits of the air and wind.

Playing with Water
Presented by Rendezvous River Sports

Join Rendezvous River Sports and Jackson Hole Kayak School for an afternoon of water fun and join in the journey of the mikoshi for water spirits down the Gros Ventre River.

Nature has many faces. An evening of talks and dialogue about the aftermath of the 2011 Tohoku tsunami, including film screening, talks and interesting conversation.

Mikoshi Journey to the Grand Teton

The mikoshi dedicated to the earth will travel up the Grand and then back to town to join the other Fire Festival mikoshi at the Center for the Arts.

Page to Stage: Contemporary Japanese Theater

A lunch hour picnic and family-friendly play reading of a contemporary Japanese play, offering a glimpse of Japanese theater today. Bring your lunch and enjoy a rare theatrical treat. Directed by Guest Director Tora Rodman.

A Japanese-style street fair and fire ceremony, perfect for all ages. Taiko drumming, Japanese food and drink, tea house, children’s games and activities, all lit by the blaze of torches under the summer stars. Explore a variety of booths featuring Japanese crafts as well as local artists.
