Bondurant man steals garnish, kicks server

By Emma Breysse, Jackson Hole, Wyoming
November 10, 2012

A Bondurant man is temporarily barred from bars after he admitted to stealing garnishes and kicking a bartender in the stomach.

Bruce Tennant Cameron, 62, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of larceny and battery Wednesday at his initial appearance in 9th Circuit Court.

He remained in jail Friday. His bail is a $2,500 unsecured bond. If he posts bail, he must stay out of bars, get an alcohol abuse evaluation and take breath tests every morning at the Teton County Jail.

Police arrested him Monday after a Jackson bartender reported Cameron attacked him, court files say.

Cameron entered a bar at around 11:30 p.m. and began eating garnishes — the small pieces of fruit included with drinks — according to court files. When bartenders told him to stop, Cameron ran off, stopping on the way to try to burn the leftover peels in a candle. A bartender chased after him. Cameron admitted that he turned around and kicked the bartender in the stomach and continued running.

Police found him a little later in the night, they said, but he refused to tell officers where he lived and said he lived a transient lifestyle due to his work. Officers arrested him for fear he would leave town if they simply cited and released him, court files state.

He is scheduled to appear in court again Nov. 30 to receive his sentence.
