Boards for fair, public health seek members

By Kevin Huelsmann, Jackson Hole, Wyoming
August 20, 2012

Teton County is accepting applications for upcoming vacancies on the fair board and the board of health.

Applicants seeking a spot on the board of health would fill the remainder of a four-year term that ends in June 2014.

The seven-person board is charged with overseeing and enforcing public health issues in the county. The board has approved rules regulating tattoos and body art as well as pools and spas. It also approved a smoking ban, though that was eventually overturned by a court ruling.

The board meets quarterly. The deadline to apply is Sept. 5. For information about the board of health, call Terri Gregory at 733-6401 or email her at terri.gregory@wyo.gov.

Applicants hoping to win a spot on the fair board would serve a full five-year term on the seven-person board.

The board, which meets monthly, operates the annual county fair and manages the fairgrounds all year.

Applications are due by 4 p.m., Aug. 30. For information about the fair board, contact Kelly Fennessey at 733-5289 or via email at kfennessey@tetonwyo.org.

Anyone interested in serving on either board can apply online by filling out an application at TetonWyo.org. There is an announcement about the board openings on the county’s homepage. A link to the application is included in the announcement. Applicants can also contact Sandy Birdyshaw at sbirdyshaw@tetonwyo.org or via telephone at 732-8488 to get information.

County commissioners are expected to conduct in-person interviews with all of the candidates once application periods close.
